In our opinion there are 3 major issues that will revolutionize the media in the near future

First issue will be the Audiovisual Net
Nowadays, at least in Spain, Internet users generally consult online news from established communication companies, such as, El País, El Mundo, La Vanguardia, etcetera.., and use them to keep up-to-date with news events.
People are used to these brands and rely on them for information
But we have to ask ourselves, why do offline newspapers currently dominate information on the Internet?
In fact, at this present time there’s not one TV station among the Top10 Spanish media portals.
We believe, that's because, at the moment, Internet has a much closer relationship with text than with audio or video content.
Today, net users account for 30 per cent of the Spanish population and they are the same 30% of population who also read offline newspapers and books, and most likely have a high cultural level
But that’s not going to last forever
Everyday, lots of people who are more used to watching offline TV than reading texts are becoming the new internet users
These people could eventually arrive to 70% of the internet audience
If this is true we need to provide them with the type of content they want: effortless, easier to browse and mainly audiovisual
In the near future, when the Net becomes more visual and less textual, we believe TV companies will have the upper hand against the traditional press media content companies
Online newspapers will have to compete offering audio and video to their audience, and this of course, will be easier if they are part of a cross media group
But, the 2 main questions for me are:
¿Are traditional press media companies capable of satisfying these netTV viewers?
And most importantly, ¿will these people rely on well-known newspaper brands for tv-like content?

The second issue is the well-known Web 2.0
It has become a revolution for all of us, especially considering the public as content creators instead of just information consumers
User participation and user created content have become real opportunities for online media
Users are valuable as creators for media companies, because they are able to create quality and local content, and above all, develop communities around their projects.
And this means more audience and more cash

The third and the last issue is Virtuality
Although you may think that Second Life and other Virtual Worlds have no relationship with media, I deeply disagree
Today, Second Life is a primary and clumsy technology but consider how real and captivating will be in just 10 years
If nowadays Spanish population spend about 4 hours a day watching TV
Why, in 2050, can’t they be connected to Second Life instead of watching TV?
They will be comfortably seated on their sofa, with video eyeglasses (or better without) and probably experiencing something like TV or IMAX but more interactive, personalized and social
They will get information, entertainment, politics, religion or sex from the Virtual World
They will get up-to-date with news because the media will be inside this Virtual World

And for finishing my explanation I would like you to see a video you may have seen before but it’s always interesting to review

It’s called Prometeus
